Almost famous

A short tale of serendipity…

Way back in the depths of winter, while cruising the art scene on Durham’s Third Friday, I met at a friend of the fabulous Sarah Goetz, who had worked for some time in England, (in Bath as it happens, which is close to home and a refreshing change from the London-centric experience of most foreigners). Being Third Firday of course, my newest acquaintance, Neill was of course an artist of sorts, a local film writer and producer, who happened to need a British voice-over for his latest venture. We exchanged stories and storylines over a glass or two of wine, and a promise to be in touch if my accent could be put to good use.

Fast forward to last Sunday, and you’d have found me recording the newscaster parts for the film Blackbird Bye Bye in my finest BBC tones. Great fun. I even got to Anglicise bits of the script.

blackbird bye bye

There’s no moral to the story, except that I have learnt that sometimes fun stuff happens as a consequence of eating wine and cheese in an art gallery (but then I always had a suspicion that it might).
